A bit of history : It is after the 2nd World War as of 1946 that the 1st ski lift is installed in the 2 alps by a Lyonnais (diviner or mad ski); The mayors of the time (Mont de Lans and Venosc) presided over its development. In 1955, Louis CARREL (local figure) proposed « Deux Alpes » and this name was adopted. In 1956, the resort is classified as a « national », it offers 216 rooms, in 1960 it could accommodate 1500 people and 45 ski instructors and in 1973 15000 beds offered for hire in 1983 22000 beds. The station will continue to grow.
After the past, the future : The immense project of linking the stations of the Deux Alpes and the Alpe d'Huez is more than ever envisaged and feasibility studies have been voted by the region. This achievement would make it possible to have the largest ski area in Europe and even the world. It is also planned to extend the production of artificial snow from 650m3 to 2000m3 to compensate for the deficiency of recent seasons and again the replacement of the Jandri express gondola. This confirms the desire to improve our station.
